WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING OVER THE HOLIDAYS?

Like alot of you I haven't been doing much crafting over the holidays choosing to spend the time with family - but I have been doing a bit of colouring!

Having received some Prisma coloured pencils towards the end part of last week I was desperate to try them out.

These are my first attempts and I am loving the results - my favourite use is to define the skin tone and create a smoother more natural effect.  I also like using them for creating a shadow effect around the image which I think works well.  I have also tried them on elements of clothing to emphasise folds etc.

I also discovered that you have to use the copics pens first before using prisma pencils or you don't get the effect - it just looks flat and undefined.

Hope this post has been useful and shows the advantage of using prismas with copics.

Many thanks and have a good new year.

DT CHALLENGE - ANYTHING GOES

For this project I used one of the new digi stamps by Mo Manning and coloured with copics and added prisma pencils to the skin tone.  I used a gold glitter pen for the flourishes and edges of the cup and saucer.

The papers were from my Crafting stash (Quitoxic Paperie) and Crafters Companion.

I used Magnolia dies for the flourishes, border and doily flower base.  I added some glamour dust to the fairy's hair and sprayed with spray varnish.  I also added a small amount of stickles glitter glue to the cup and saucer etc.

The embellishments were flower, leaves, heart gems and some gems.

Hope you like, best wishes,

Please remember to take a look at the other DT's samples for more inspiration - they're beautiful.

FAIRY TEA CUP

This is one of the latest releases by Mo Manning called Fairy Tea Cup and its just adorable.  This is my second card with this image - I just think its so cute.  Mind you I'm a Coffee drinker not tea!

I coloured the image with copics and then soften with my prisma pencils.  I used a sukura glitter pen for the flourishes and hair.

I paper pierced two of the corners and then used a spica pen over the top.

I kept the design very simple and used gold mirri cardstock as the backing mats.  The green backing papers were from a paper stash I bought some time ago.  I used two smooch spritz inks to create the background on the image - masking the fairy's hair and body.

I embellished using ribbon, bow, petaloo flower, paper flowers and pins.

Welcome to another DT post for CCC and this weeks theme is Winter Birthdays - I do hope you will join in with us and to start here is my sample

For this project I used one of the new releases from LOTV and coloured with copics and spica pens.  I added glamour dust to the fluffy scarf and a fine liner for the border.

I used a Marianne die to cut the flourishes and the backing papers were from Creative Cottage and Crafters Companion.

I embellished with flowers, pearls and pins.

Thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas.

DIGITAL TUESDAY CHALLENGE - CELEBRATIONS

It's Tuesday and another challenge - this week's theme is Lets Celebrate (Any Occasion) and with only 3 days until Christmas day we are all getting ready to enjoy the Christmas Celebrations with our families.

This weeks challenge is being sponsored by Dustin Pike so why not join in with this challenge remember you can use any digital stamp.

I have chosen to use a digital stamp from Mo Manning which I thought was ideal for this challenge.  This image is called Keishas Curtain Call.  I coloured this image with copics inconjunction with my prisma pencils.  Still experimenting with these at the moment as I've only had them a couple of days.  I do like the way they can be used with copics to intensify the colours etc.  I added glamour dust the the tiara.

The backing papers were from a Forever Friends CD Rom and Create and Craft (Silver mirri).  I used some smooch spritz inks to create the image back ground and used a metallic pen to edge the borders.

I used  Marianne dies to cut the flourishes and embellished with some flowers, pearls and gems.

Hope I've inspired you, please check out the other DT's work and hope to see you enter our challenge this week.

And Finally Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.

Challenge #lets party http://ynschallenges.blogspot.com/

For this project I used one of the Mo Manning digital stamps from Mo's Digital Pencil called "Flower girl" and thought this would make a wonderful card for a bridesmaid from the Bride and Groom.

I coloured this image with copics and used my new prisma pencils to darken the folds on the girl's dress and add a subtle tone to her skin.  I masked the girl's face and arms and then sprayed lightly with smooch spritz ink (pearl).

I paper pierced the two opposite corners of the main image and used a fine liner pen to complete the full border.

I kept the colour scheme fairly neutral.  The textured cardstock was from Crafters Companion and the silver mirri from Create and Craft.

I embellished with some petal flowers I had as a free thank you when ordering crafting goodies from America.  The foliage leaves were cut with a Magnolia die and I added ribbon, peel offs and gems to complete.

Hope you like as I wanted a feeling of wedding without full on.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas to you.

PAPERPLAY CHALLENGE #50

Theme - Anything but a card.

For this project I had already coloured an image but not known what to do with it, so thought it would be ideal for this challenge.

The image was one of the sweetpea rubber stamps by Caron Vinson who is quite well known for her fairy images.  I coloured her with copic and spica pens adding a lace stickles to the wings.  I love this lace stickles glitter glue as it gives a frosty feel to it.

At first I had planned to make a tag but couldn't get the look I wanted so decided to use on a gift bag as an altered art item.  Luckily the tones of the gift bag and design worked well with the image.

I used a Magnolia die for the flourishes and Marianne dies for the poinsettias.  I create the feeling I was looking for I added pearls and sparkly gems for a real girly gift bag.  I added more bling by adding more stickles (crystal ice) to the poinsettias and dress.

Finally to give it a lavish feel I added a hugh bow.

Hope you like this creation and I have inspired you to try something different.  Don't forget to check out the other DT's blogs to see what they have come up with.

Best wishes,

DT CHALLENGE #89

Today's challenge is SPARKING CHRISTMAS - use some sparkle of your Christmas gift/cards and the Sponsor for this weeks challenge is FAIRY DUST CRAFTS.

Firstly I have to apologise as I didn't use a Fairy Dust image which had been my intention.  Like everyone else this last couple of week's have been so hectic.  I'm not moaning but I've had visitors everyday and relatives staying.  My Brother and two of his children stayed at the weekend the youngest was three so no crafting.  Then this morning another visitor staying for a couple of days.

Any way going back to subject in hand had already coloured Kenny K image so decided to use for this project as earlier project was disastrous.

Coloured image with copics and spica pens.

I used a Magnolia die for the doily edges, and Marianne dies for the corner embellishment and snowflakes.

To complete this gift tag I added ribbon and stickles glitter glue to the corner and snowflakes.

Hope you like this glitzed up gift tag and for more inspiration and wonderful ideas please check out the other DT members blogs, their creations are just gorgeous.

Best wishes,

Challenge #digi day http://stampchallenges.blogspot.com/

Yet another image from Mo Manning.  This one is called "reach for the star" and is so versatile, I'm using as a Christmas card this time.  I quite like to brown tones at the moment so this has finished up as monochromatic.  I used Copic pen to colour this image and stickles glitter for texture to highlight the land part of the globe.

The backing papers were all scraps left over from previous projects.

I embossed the edges of the image with gold embossing powder and then added stickles.

The flourish embellishments were cut with Marianne dies and I used a brad and a couple of pearls to complete this project.

Hope you like as this is such an adorable image.

Best wishes,

SANTA

Challenge #white backing papers only http://cinspirations.blogspot.com/
Challenge #merry christmas http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.com/
Challenge #christmas clean and simple http://ynschallenges.blogspot.com/

For this project I used another of the gorgeous Mo Manning stamps and how perfect is this one for Christmas!  I coloured with copics and spica pens and highlighted snow areas with stickles glitter glue - silver ice and crystal.

As the image was fairly large I kept the backing plain.  I used a polka dot embossing folder for the background and mounted on red mirri board.

I add some ribbon embellish, finishing off with a bow, snowflake and pearl.

Hope you like this as I've kept it very clean and simple in the design element.

Best wishes,

HOLLY

Challenge #3papers, 2 embellishments, 1 image
http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/

For this project I used another digital stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil called "Christmas Fairy Holly".  I fancied using the grey tones with this image, so I used the cool greys (copics), silver glitter pen and crystal ice stickles.

The backing papers were from Crafters Companion (plain grey texture), Create and Craft (silver mirri) and (patterned) Forever Friends CD Rom.

All dies used were from the Marianne collection of dies and the gems and pearl embellishments were from Quitoxic Paperie.

I enjoyed colouring this image as the fairy had such a pretty face.  Hope you like my icy colours.

Best wishes,
